MLB News - Yankees Acquire Nady and Marte
July 28, 2008 - New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman made the usual post All-Star break trade to win now for the Yankees by completing a six player trade with the Pittsburg Pirates. The Yankess receive OF Xavier Nady and left handed reliever Damaso Marte while the Pittsburg Pirates receive four minor leaguers - Pitchers, Phil Coke, George Kontos, Ross Ohlendorf and outfielder Jose Tabata. The 'X-man' Xavier Nady has been having a solid season with Pittsburg batting .330 AVG, 13 HR and 57 RBI. Nady will be a welcome addition the creaky Yankees batting lineup that has seen injuries toHedeki Matsui, Posada, Johnny Damon. Domaso Marte is verteran left handed reliever that will add depth the Yankee bullpen. Left handed hitters are hitting .255 against Marte.
