2014 NFL Week 12 - Colts vs. Jaguars Betting Odds Preview
Jacksonville and Indianapolis face off in this week 12 matchup in Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. The last time we saw the Jaguars it was during week 10 and they were playing the Cowboys in Wembley Stadium in England. They started out well scoring an early touchdown on a Denard Robinson 32 yard rush but were barely able to muster up any offense the rest of the game in the 31-17 loss. Robinson ended the game with 15 carries for 60 yards and 2 touchdowns. Starting quarterback Blake Bortles who played the game with a sore left wrist went 22/37 for 290 yards with an interception. It’s a tough task for him considering it’s a very young team that lacks veteran leadership to point the rookie in the right direction. Wide receiver Cecil Shorts had a big day with 5 catches for 119 yards. Its been an overall rough year for the Jaguars who will look to show improvement every week while Bortles gains valuable experience. The Colts have been riding the wave all season long. They started out 0-2 and then proceeded to win 5 straight games. However after their blowout 40-24 loss to the Patriots they have now lost 2 of their last 3. The Colts were surprised by the rushing attack of the Patriots that featured sparingly used rookie Jonas Gray who rushed for over 200 yards and 4 touchdowns against an underprepared Colts defense. Quarterback Andrew Luck didn’t have the ball as often as he would have liked since the Colts were dominated in time of possession. He ended up going 23/39 for 303 yards and 2 touchdowns but that wasn’t nearly enough to counteract the fact that their defense was getting run all over all game long. They also could have used help in their own rushing attack as Luck was their leading rusher with a paltry 15 yards.
The Colts are going to be without starting running back Ahmad Bradshaw who is out for the season. Now would be a great time for Trent Richardson who needs to turn his season and thus far disappointing career around and prove he was worth the first round pick the Colts gave up to trade for him last year. The team also signed Josh Cribbs who could see some carries if Richardson continues to falter. The Colts defense has been shredded by equally by both the pass and the rush in recent weeks. The weak Jaguars and their rookie quarterback may be exactly what the defense needs to get on track.
Robinson has been the only bright spot in an otherwise dismal season for the Jaguars. He was a quarterback in college and had to learn how to be a running back. Since finally getting his chance he has rushed for 389 yards with 4 touchdowns and 5.4 yards a carry in his last 4 games. They were on the bye last week and hopefully were able to let Bortles rest his wrist as well as come up with a scheme to create a play action passing game.
