The 4-5 Washington Redskins travel to North Carolina to take on the 9-0 Panthers on Sunday afternoon as both teams are coming off impressive wins last week. The Redskins gained over 500 yards of offense in their 47-14 rout of the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers dominated on both sides of the ball in their 27-10 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Although they only have 2 wins in their last 5 games Washington’s offense has averaged over 25 points per game in that span. Carolina’s offense has been even better over their last 5 games as they have averaged over 29 points per game.

Kirk Cousins had a great game last week as he completed 20 of 25 passes for 324 yards and 4 touchdowns without throwing an interception. He finished the game with a perfect 158.3 passer rating. Which is the only perfect passer rating this season in the entire NFL. He completed passes to 9 different receivers led by Matt Jones who had 131 receiving yards on only 3 catches which included a 78 yard touchdown right before halftime. Jordan Reed had only 3 catches for 29 yards but 2 of those receptions went for touchdowns. Washington also had over 200 rushing yards with Alfred Morris leading the way with 92 yards on 15 carries. Defensively, they were able to intercept Drew Brees twice and was able to return one of them for a touchdown. They were also able to sack Brees twice for a loss of 17 yards. The Defensive line had some trouble with the running game as they allowed 158 yards on only 26 carries

Carolina Easily dispatched of the Titans and continued to look impressive on both sides of the ball. Defensively, they shut Tennessee out in the second half and limited them to only 64 rush yards on 21 carries. They were only able to sack Marcus Mariota once but did have 7 tackles for losses. Offensively, Cam Newton led the way as he completed 21 of 26 passes for 217 yards and touchdown. He also rushed the ball 9 times for another 23 yards and a touchdown. His favorite passing target was Greg Olsen who had 8 receptions for 80 yards. If there was a negative in this game for the Panthers it was they allowed Cam Newton to be sacked 5 times for a loss of 33 yards. Jonathan Stewart had a nice day running the ball as he had 22 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown.

Carolina is 7-2 against the spread this year but only 3-2 at home. The Redskins are 4-5 against the spread this year including 1-3 on the road. The Panthers are heavy favorites in this game and the Redskins have both running back Alfred Morris and linebacker Keenan Robinson listed as questionable on the injury report. Despite being 4-5 the Redskins are only 1 half game out of the NFC East so they still have a lot to play for.
