2015 NFL Week 13 - 49ers vs. Bears Betting Odds Preview
The 3-8 San Francisco 49ers travel to Chicago to take on 5-6 Bears with these 2 teams going in different directions. The 49ers lost last week 19-13 to the Arizona Cardinals and it was their 4th loss in their last 5 games. Chicago is coming off an impressive 17-13 road victory against the Green Bay Packers and this was the Bears 3rd win in their last 4 games. All 3 of the wins were road games and the Bears have struggled at home as they are only 1-4 this season at Soldier field. Through Chicago’s first 7 games they gave up an average of 29 points per game and since have yielded an average of only 15.5 over their last 5 games.
San Francisco played well last week against the NFC West leading Cardinals as the game was tied at 13 heading into the 4th quarter they just couldn’t score in the final quarter. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert had good numbers as he completed 25 of 36 passes for 318 yards and a touchdown. His favorite target was Anquan Boldin who had 8 receptions for 93 yards. The running game struggled as they were only able to gain 67 rush yards on 17 carries. Defensively they played well as they limited Arizona to only 19 points when they have averaged 33 points their prior 4 games. They did a good job stopping the run also as the Cardinals only gained 70 yards on 29 carries. Although they only had 1 sack, they did have 6 tackles for losses.
Chicago used efficient offense and solid defense in their win last week over the Packers at Lambeau Field. Defensively, they shut the Packers out in the second half and forced 2 turnovers with an interception and a fumble recovery which led to the Bears first touchdown. They also kept Aaron Rodgers in check as he completed only 22 of 43 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. He was also sacked twice, threw an interception and finished with a quarterback rating of 21. If there was a negative for the defense it was they had trouble stopping the rush. The Packers averaged over 6 yards per carry as they gained 177 yards on 28 carries. Offensively, Jay Cutler completed 19 of 31 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown without throwing an interception. His favorite target was Alshon Jeffrey who had 7 receptions for 90 yards. They also had some success running the ball as they rushed for 101 yards on 31 carries.
Chicago is 7-4 against the spread this year but are only 2-3 at home. The 49ers are 5-6 against the spread this year but are only 1-4 on the road. San Francisco’s offense is really struggling as they have averaged only 13 points per game over their last 5 games. Chicago is at home and heavy favorites in this game but 3 of the 49ers last 4 losses have been by 10 or more points.
