Line: Steelers -7

The 6-5 Indianapolis Colts travel to Pittsburgh to take on the 6-5 Steelers in this week’s Sunday night matchup. The Colts defense played great in last week’s 25-12 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the Steelers defense played poorly in their 39-30 road loss to the Seattle Seahawks. To add injury to insult for the Steelers, Ben Roethlisberger left the game late in the 4th quarter to undergo concussion protocol and his status for the game against the Colts is questionable.

Indianapolis has had quarterback issues as Andrew Luck has been out for several weeks and isn’t due back until at least the middle of December. Matt Hasselbeck has been his replacement and even at 40 years old, the win against Tampa Bay improved him to 4-0 this season including winning the last 3 in a row. He was very efficient last week completing 26 of 42 passes for 315 yards and 2 touchdown and 0 interceptions. Donte Moncrief and T.Y. Hilton both had huge games. Moncrief had 8 receptions for 114 yards and Hilton had 6 catches for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns. The running game struggled mightily as they were only able to gain 27 yards on 26 carries. Also, the offensive line allowed Hasselbeck to be sacked 3 times. Defensively, they shut out the Buccaneers in the second half and they had an interception. The defensive line was able to sack Jameis Winston 5 times for a loss of 33 yards but allowed the Buccaneers to have 132 rushing yards on only 21 carries.

Ben Roethlesberger was having a good day before suffering the head injury in the 4th quarter and his status for this week’s game is questionable. He completed 36 passes for 456 yards and a touchdown. He did however throw 2 interceptions which both lead to Seahawk touchdowns. Markus Wheaton was his favorite target as he caught 9 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown. Deangelo Williams also had 7 catches for 88 yards. Their run game was non-existent as they only accumulated 58 yards on 14 carries. Defensively, they had trouble stopping the run and the pass as they allowed Seattle to accumulate 445 yards of offense. Russell Wilson threw for 345 yards and 5 touchdowns. Pittsburgh had no answer for Doug Baldwin who caught 3 of those touchdowns as he had 6 receptions for 145 yards. Seattle also was also able to rush for 100 yards. They were able to sack Russell Wilson twice and did have 5 tackles for losses.

The Colts are 6-5 this year against the spread including 3-2 on the road. The Steelers are 5-4-2 against the spread including 3-2-1 at home. The Steelers will have home field advantage for this game and are favored by a touchdown even though Roethlesberger’s status is still not certain. Both of these teams are still alive in the playoff chase and have plenty to play for so this should be a close game.

Pick: Colts +7
