Line: Giants -3

The 6-9 Philadelphia Eagles travel to New York to take on the 6-9 Giants on this last Sunday of the regular season as neither of these teams are playoff bound. The Giants lost for the 5th time in 6 games last week as they lost to the Vikings 49-17. The Eagles lost a must win game 38-24 to the Washington Redskins officially eliminating them from the playoffs. After the game the Eagles fired Chip Kelly as head coach after 3 seasons.

Philadelphia’s defense has surrendered at least 400 yards in the last 6 games and last week was no different as the Redskins gained 432. They allowed Kirk Cousins to throw for 365 yards and 4 touchdowns without forcing a turnover. They did sack him 2 times for a loss of 14 yards and stopped the run as Washington only gained 67 yards on 26 carries. Fletcher Cox had a nice day as he recorded both sacks and 2 of the teams 6 tackles for losses. Offensively, Sam Bradford played well as he completed 37 of 56 passes for 380 yards and a touchdown with 0 interceptions. The offensive line didn’t help as he was sacked 5 times for a loss of 27 yards. Zack Ertz and Jordan Matthews each had big days as Ertz had 13 catches for 122 yards and Matthews had 6 catches for 194 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles struggled running the ball as they only gained 45 yards on 16 carries.

The Giants played last week without Odell Beckham Jr. who was serving a 1 game suspension and their offense really struggled. Eli Manning finished the game with a quarterback rating of 0.7. He completed just 15 of 29 passes for 234 yards, 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions. He was also sacked 4 times for a loss of 30 yards. His favorite target was Ruben Randle who had 2 receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. Rashad Jennings led a balanced run game with 74 yards gained on 14 carries. Defensively, they couldn’t stop the run as the Vikings exploded for 218 yards and 3 touchdowns on 40 carries. They did sack Teddy Bridgewater 3 times for a loss of 18 yards and had 6 tackles for losses.

The Eagles are 6-9 against the spread this year including 3-4 on the road. The Giants are 8-6-1 against the spread this year including 4-3 at home. These 2 teams met on October 19th in Philadelphia with the Eagles winning 27-7 despite Sam Bradford throwing 3 interceptions. In that game the Giants were held to season low 247 yards and season low 7 points. The Giants rank last in the league at 419 yards allowed. Odell Beckham is 1 td reception and 141 receiving yards short of setting franchise records in both categories. The Giants have Odell Beckham Jr. back and could be playing their last home game for Coach Tom Coughlin who isn’t guaranteed to be back next year.
