The 3-2 New York Giants will travel to Philadelphia on Monday night to take on the 2-3 Eagles. Both teams are coming off impressive wins in which they each had over 500 yards of offense. Eli Manning threw for over 440 yards in the Giants 30-27 victory over the 49ers while the Eagles had 186 rushing yards in their 39-17 win over the New Orleans Saints. Both of these teams had rough starts as the Giants opened 0-2 and the eagles opened 0-3. The NFC East is still wide open and while it’s an important game for both teams, the Eagles have yet to win a game in the division.

Eli Manning had a monster game last week by completing 41 of 54 passes for 441 yards and 3 touchdowns. The offensive line did a great job in not allowing a sack all day and Manning was able to spread the ball around as 6 different receivers all had at least 1 catch for at least 15 yards. They were led by Odell Beckham Jr. He had 7 receptions for 121 yards a touchdown. While the offense played great, both Beckham and Ruben Randle suffered hamstring injuries and their status for this week’s game are still uncertain. The rushing game was decent as they rushed the ball 21 times for a total of 84 yards. Defensively, they weren’t as sharp as they couldn’t stop the rushing or the passing game. Kaepernick completed 23 passes to 9 different receivers for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns without throwing an interception. They also gave up 124 rushing yards including 93 to Carlos Hyde who also had a touchdown. They defensive line did have 2 sacks and 6 tackles for a loss.

The Eagles offensive had it going with both the pass and the run. Sam Bradford was 32-45 for 333 yards and 2 touchdowns. Philadelphia had 8 different players catch a pass for at least 10 yards and Bradford’s numbers could have been even better but he threw 2 interceptions with his team in the red zone. The running game was also very efficient as they gained 186 yards on 34 carries which averages out to 5.5 yards per rush. They were led my Demarco Murray who has so far had a disappointing start to the season. He rushed for 83 yards and touchdown but also caught 7 passes for additional 37 yards. Ryan Matthews also had a nice day with 8 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, they were able to sack Drew Brees 5 times for a loss of 43 yards and were able to force 4 turnovers.

The Giants are 3-2 against the spread this year while the Eagles are 2-3. The Giants are however 2-0 on the road while the Eagles are just 1-1 at home. The Eagles have the home field advantage and the Giants still have several key players whose status is still uncertain.
