The 3-3 Philadelphia Eagles travel to North Carolina to take on the 5-0 panthers with both teams coming off solid wins. The Panthers remained unbeaten by pulling off an impressive 4th quarter comeback on the road to pull out a 27-23 win against the Seattle Seahawks. The Eagles played great defense in their 27-7 home victory over the New York Giants which put them in a tie for first place in the division.

The Eagles defense limited the Giants offense to only 212 yards a week after they racked up more that 500 against the 49ers. Eli Manning had a really rough day as he went 24-38 for 189 yards and 2 interceptions. One of those interceptions was returned 17 yards for a touchdown. The Eagles Defensive line was able to sack Manning 3 times and had 7 tackles for losses. Offensively Demarco Murray had his second big game in a row while quarterback Sam Bradford really struggled. Bradford was 24-38 for 280 yards but threw 3 interceptions and only 1 touchdown. 5 different receivers all had catches of at least 15 yards led by Riley Cooper who had a 32 yard touchdown reception in the 1st quarter and a 43 yard reception in the 3rd quarter. Demarco Murray had 22 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown while also catching 3 passes for another 14 yards. This was Demarco’s first 100 yard rushing game of the season and the second game in a row he had at least 80 yards. The Eagles haven’t lost when he rushes for at least 80 yards but in the team’s 3 losses, he has only averaged 16 rushing yards.

Carolina has 5 wins but none more impressive that last week’s comeback win at Seattle. Cam Newton led the Panthers on two 80 yard drives in the final 6 minutes which included a 26 yard touchdown pass to Greg Olsen with 32 seconds remaining which sealed the victory. Olsen had a big day catching 7 passes for 131 yards and the winning touchdown. Jonathan Stewart had a good day rushing the ball as he had 20 carries for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns. Cam Newton had a mixed day as he threw for 269 yards and touchdown but he threw 2 interceptions. Defensively, they were able to sack Russell Wilson 4 times and had 6 tackles for a loss. They were also able to limit Marshawn Lynch to only 54 yards on 17 carries. If there was a negative in this game for the Panthers, it is that they couldn’t stop Jimmy Graham who had 8 receptions for 140 yards.

Philadelphia is 1-2 on the road this year while Carolina is 2-0 at home. The Eagles are 3-3 against the spread this year and the Panthers are 4-1. Both teams looked impressive last week against strong opponents. Carolina was able keep Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks running game in check last week and if they can do the same to Demarco Murray, they should pull out the victory.
