Line: Patriots -9.5

The 3-3 Miami Dolphins travel to New England to take on the 6-0 Patriots in this week’s Thursday night matchup with both teams coming off impressive wins. The Dolphins are now 2-0 under new coach Dan Campbell as they easily beat the Texans 44-26 last week. Miami has outscored their last two opponents 82-36 and there is a renewed optimism around the team as they have moved into the playoff conversation. The Patriots remained unbeaten with their 30-23 victory over the Jets on a night where they were only able to gain 16 rushing yards, 15 of which came from Tom Brady. It was the first time in his career that Brady was the team’s leading rusher in a game.

The Patriots were trailing the Jets to start the 4th quarter when Tom Brady went 14-17 and led 2 long drives for Touchdowns sealing the win. His favorite target was Rob Gronkowski who had 11 catches for 108 yards and a touchdown. Danny Amendola also had a big day with 8 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. One concern for New England is the Offensive line allowed Brady to be sacked 3 times and he has been sacked 10 times in the last 3 games. Defensively, they held Chris Ivory in check as he was only able to gain 41 yards on 17 carries. Ivory entered the game leading the AFC in rushing yards per game. They had some difficulty stopping Ryan Fitzpatrick who threw for 295 yards and 2 touchdowns while completing 22 of 39 passes. He didn’t throw any interceptions but did fumble the ball on the second play of the game which led to a New England field goal.

Miami is 2-0 since Joe Philbin was fired and Dan Campbell has the Dolphins playing great on both sides of the ball. Offensively, they couldn’t be stopped as they jumped out to a 41-0 lead at halftime. Ryan Tannehill was 18 for 19 for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns. As a team, they had 4 plays that gained at least 50 yards and Lamar Miller is responsible for 2 of them. In the second quarter, Miller caught a 54 yard pass for a touchdown and had an 85 yard run for a touchdown. On the day, he had 236 yards of offense with 175 rushing yards and 61 receiving yards. Defensively, they shut the Texans out in the first half and had 4 sacks with 7 tackles for losses. They also had an interception which was returned for a touchdown. If there was a negative in this game it is the offensive line allowed 4 sacks for a loss of 41 yards.

While The Dolphins last 2 wins have been impressive, the Patriots are a lot better than both the Texans and Titans and this game will be in Fox borough. The Patriots are big favorites in this game and are only 3-1-2 against the spread this year while the Dolphins are 3-3.

Pick: Dolphins +9.5
