Week 8 - Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans

The 2-4 Jacksonville Jaguars travel to Tennessee to take on the 3-4 Titans in this week’s Thursday night matchup. Both teams entered last week on 2 game winning streaks and both suffered disappointing home losses. Tennessee lost to the Indianapolis Colts 34-26 as they couldn’t stop Andrew Luck and the Colts offense. Jacksonville was blown out 33-16 by the Oakland Raiders and played poorly on both sides of the ball. Jacksonville committed 3 turnovers last week which included 2 interceptions from Blake Bortles. He finished 23 of 43 for 246 yards and 1 touchdown. His favorite target was Marqise Lee who had 7 catches for 107 yards. Julius Thomas had the team’s only touchdown as he also caught 3 passes for 20 yards. Chris Ivory led a balanced run game with 48 yards on only 5 carries. As a team, they ran the ball only 16 times but gained 105 yards. Defensively, they were unable to force a turnover and weren’t able to sack Derek Carr. They had trouble with the run as Oakland gained 144 yards on 34 carries including 2 rushing touchdowns. They did have 5 tackles for losses with Telvin Smith making 3 of those tackles. They have now given up 76 points in their last 3 games and give up an average of 27 points per game.

Tennessee is 2-5 against the spread this season including 0-4 at home. The Jaguars are 2-4 against the spread this year including 1-2 as the underdog. Tennessee will enjoy home field advantage for this game and is favored by 4 points. Marcus Marriota has a 2-8 career home record. Jacksonville will without starting nose tackle Roy Miller who is out for the year after tearing his right Achilles tendon last week. Demarco Murray is the NFL’s third leading rusher with 633 yards and could be in for another big game.
