The 1-2 Chicago Bears will travel to Green Bay to take on the 2-1 Packers in this weeks Thursday night contest. Both teams are coming off exciting overtime victories last week. Chicago scored on the first play of overtime to earn its first victory of the season defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-17 at home. Green Bay came all the way back from a 21-7 halftime deficit to beat the Cincinnatti Bengals 27-24 at home. They won despite having 7 starters out by the end of the game including receiver Randall Cobb, cornerback Davon House and Left Tackle Bryan Baluga

The Chicago Bears ran all over the Pittsburgh defense gaining 220 yards on 38 carries, which is 6 yards per rush. Jordan Howard led the team with 138 yards and 2 touchdowns on 23 carries. He also led the team with 5 catches for 26 yards. Quarterback Mike Glennon threw just 22 passes completing 15 for 101 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He had just 1 completion go for more than 11 yards. On the season the Bears ranked 28th in points scored per game with15.7. Defensively they played well forcing 2 Steeler turnovers and 3 sacks of Ben Roethlisberger. They limited Pittsburgh to just 70 rush yards and on 17 carries but allowed 5 different receivers to make receptions that gained at least 12 yards.

Aaron Rodgers had another big day completing 28 of his 42 passes for 313 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception which was returned for a touchdown. Rodgers has now thrown for over 300 yards in all 3 games this season despite being sacked 13 times including six last week against the Bengals. His favorite target was Geronimo Allison who had 6 receptions for 122 yards. Jordy Nelson also had a nice game with 6 catches for 52 yards and 2 touchdowns. Four different Packers receivers made catches that gained at least 23 yards. They struggled running the ball gaining just 64 yards on 17 carries. Defensively, they forced 1 turnover and sacked Andy Dalton 3 times. They allowed 110 rushing yards on 30 carries and had 9.5 tackles for losses. So far this season Green Bay’s defense has allowed their opponents to score an average 22.3 points per game, which is 18th in the league.

Green Bay will have home field advantage and is favored by a touchdown in this game. Chicago has gone 2-1 against the spread this season as the Packers have gone 1-2. Green Bay has 4 key defensemen whose statuses are questionable for this game and they need all the help they can get on the defensive line. Chicago handily won the time of possession battle against the Steelers with their successful running game. They will need a good running game as Mike Glennon ranks next to last in the league in yards per pass attempt. Lambeu Field will be rocking in this early season NFC North matchup between long time rivals.
