The 4-6 Los Angeles Chargers will travel to Dallas to take on the 5-5 Cowboys in the second of three Thanksgiving Day games. These two teams are coming off very different weeks. Los Angeles played its most complete game of the season last week by destroying the Buffalo Bills 54-24 at home. Wide Receiver Travis Benjamin suffered an abdominal injury and his status is questionable for this game. For Dallas, they struggled mightily on the Offensive end for the second game in a row without running back Ezekiel Elliott who has been suspended for six games. They were defeated 34-9 at home by the Philadelphia Eagles and have scored 16 points combined in their last 2 games.

The Chargers defense led the way last week by forcing the Bills to commit six turnovers, which included 5 interceptions. They also had 1 sack and had 5 tackles for losses. They struggled against the run however as the Bills gained 146 yards on 35 carries. For the year, they have allowed their opponents to average 20 points and gain 367 yards per game. Offensively, Philip Rivers led the way with a passer rating of 107.7. He completed 20 of his 32 pass attempts for 251 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. His favorite target was Keenen Allen who had 12 catches for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns. Melvin Gordon led the running game with 80 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.

The Cowboys offense has been non-existent without Elliott and last week continued that trend. They gained just 257 yards, didn’t score a touchdown and Dak Prescott played poorly. He completed just 18 of 31 passes for 145 yards, 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He was also sacked 4 times and lost a fumble. His favorite target was Dez Bryant who had 8 catches for 63 yards. Alfred Morris led the team in rush yards with 91 on 17 carries. Defensively, they couldn’t stop the Eagles run game as they allowed Philadelphia to gain 215 yards and score 2 touchdowns on just 33 carries. They did not force any turnovers and weren’t able to sack Carson Wentz at all. Their defense has allowed their opponents to score an average of 24.2 points and gain 355 yards per game.

Los Angeles is ranked third in the NFL with 30 sacks this season as Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram rank in the top 10. This could be a problem for Dallas as they have allowed Dak Prescott to be sacked 11 times in the last 2 games. Dallas will have home field advantage and are 1- point underdogs in this game. They have gone 5-5 against the spread this season including 2-3 at home. The Chargers have gone 5-4-1 against the spread this season including 3-1-1 on the road. Neither team would make the playoffs if the season ended today but Los Angeles is the hotter team having won 4 of their last 6 games.
