The 5-4 Atlanta Falcons will travel to Seattle to take on the 6-3 Seahawks in this week’s Monday night matchup. They both remain very relevant in the NFC playoff race and are coming off wins against good teams. Atlanta easily dispatched of the Ezekiel Elliot less Cowboys 27-7 at home. It was a nice bounce-back win after dropping 3 of their previous 4 games. Seattle led the entire game in their impressive 22-16 road win over the Arizona Cardinals. Unfortunately, cornerback Richard Sherman ruptured his Achilles tendon and will be out for the rest of the season.

Russell Wilson had a nice day finishing with a passer rating of 111. He completed 22 of his 32 passes for 238 yards 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Wilson is second in the league to only Tom Brady in passing yards this season with 2,543. His favorite target was Doug Baldwin who had 5 catches for 95 yards. Jimmy Graham also had a nice game with 6 catches for 27 yards and 2 touchdowns. Thomas Rawls led a lackluster running game with 27 yards on 10 carries. Defensively, they completely shut the Cardinals running game down allowing just 34 yards on 24 carries. They did not force any turnovers but did sack Drew Stanton twice and had 8 tackles for losses. On the season, the have allowed their opponents to score an average of 18.3 points and gain 338 yards per game.

The Falcons defense really stepped up last week limiting the Cowboys to just 7 points and 283 yards of offense. Adrian Clayborn had 6 of the teams 8 sacks against Dak Prescott setting a Falcons record. They also recovered 2 fumbles and had 11 tackles for losses. Their pass defense is ranked sixth in the league allowing just 198 yards per game. Against the run, they are ranked 19th, giving up 114 yards per game. Matt Ryan finished with a quarterback rating of 80 completing 22 of 29 passes for 215 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. His favorite target was Julio Jones who had 6 catches for 57 yards. They had success running the ball gaining 132 yards on 34 carries. Devonta Freeman suffered a concussion and his he will be out for this game. For the year, they have averaged 22 points and 380 yards per game.

Seattle will have home field advantage and is favored by 2.5 points. They have gone 3-5-1 against the spread including 2-2-1 at home. Safety Kam Chancellor is also doubtful after suffering a neck injury last week versus Arizona potentially leaving their defense without several key players. Fortunately their last game was 11 days ago and the rest of their players will be well rested. The Falcons have gone 3-6 against the spread this season including 1-4 on the road. Freemans loss is a big one for Atlanta, which means Tevin Coleman will be seeing a lot of action as his primary backup. He has done a nice job so far this season averaging 4.8 yards per carry.
