Mississippi +5 (-105) and Wisconsin -5 (-115)

It is doubtful that there has ever been a team that stands as good a chance at getting knocked out in the first round as they do at going to the Final Four. Wisconsin is a team that prefers to keep the scores low and play the game in the 50’s. They don’t play very aggressive, they simply keep you in front of them, box out, and then rebound. They run a slow methodic offense that oftentimes eventually features a 3-point shot in the end. They are lead by gritty junior guard Ben Brust who is a strong rebounder at 5 per game and a 40% 3-point shooter. He plays virtually the entire game and is their leader. Senior Jarred Berggren is their second leading scorer and one of several Badger big men that are capable of stepping out on the perimeter and making long distance shots. He is also a strong in the post while averaging 7 rebounds per game. Freshman Sam Dekker is another big body who can stretch the floor while shooting the 3 at a 40% clip.

Wisconsin brings several big bodies in and out of the game and tries to keep the game at their pace. Ole Miss junior guard Marshal Henderson is by far the most dynamic player in this game. He can be very aggressive and offers many drives into the lane. He is also one of the leaders in the country in 3-point attempts (nearly 11 per game) and makes (4). His 20-point per game average is sure to make him the focus of the Wisconsin defense. Senior forward Murphy Holloway is a 6 foot 7 240 pound bruiser who averages 14 points and ten rebounds a night. He is a high-energy player and a team leader. Six foot 9 inch senior Reginald Buckner is another strong interior presence who averages 7 boards per game. Ole Miss is an offensive team that likes to play at a much quicker pace than Wisconsin does. The key will be if they are able to create enough fast break points early and get a lead, if they were able to do so perhaps they could force Wisconsin to come out of their comfort zone and play a little faster.

Wisconsin is a very big team however Ole Miss is not exactly small. Henderson will be the key to the game for both teams. If he can make his 3-point shots and not turn the ball over then Ole Miss has an excellent shot at stealing a win here. On the other hand, if he has an off night, his team has virtually no chance. Wisconsin’s big men stretch the defense out with their ability to hit from the outside; the question is does Wisconsin have enough firepower to withstand an off shooting night? This game should be a close one, in those cases you should always go with the dog.
