Houston Texans Betting | 2009 NFL Betting Guide
The 2009 NFL Houston Texans see their 8th year as the year they make the playoffs in a tough AFC South. The offense has the pieces in a strong armed QB Matt Schuab, explosive RB Slaton and the Viagra receivers in Johnson and Walter (which sounds like a drug company selling erectile dysfunction pills to an impotent offense). The Texans defense has the speed on the edges to potential be a lethal unit as Mario Williams draft stock continues to climb like Google stock.

2009 Houston Texans Offensive Outlook:
The offensive line returns their starting 5 and gelled in the second half of the season to the new zone blocking scheme Alex Gibbs instituted in 2008. Protection will be key to keep QB Matt Schaub healthy who is not known for his mobility. Depth at RB may be thin behind 195 pound Steve Slaton who showed explosiveness in 2008 racking up 10 TD and 50 receptions. The WRs Johnson and Walter are perfect compliments and Walter will punish double teams on Johnson. Expect an increase from the 17th ranked scoring offense this year.
2009 Houston Texans Defensive Outlook:
"Heat On The Edges" should be the mantra of the 2009 Texans defense as they will need that pass rush pressure from DE Mario Williams,OLB Brian Cushing and DE Connor Barwin to make up for a thin secondary. DE Connor Barwin has looked good in preseason and can play either end and OLB so expect some numbers in special plays for him this year. The Texans ranked 17th in passing defense in 2008 and they are very thin this year with their top CB Dunta Robinson being unhappy with the franchise label. Watch early to see if the Texans can stop the run and bring the package on the QB to make up for secondary woes.
