The 2-6 New York Giants will host the 4-3 Cowboys in this week's edition of Monday Night Football. The Giants are coming off of a 31-26 loss to the Detroit Lions last week that was their 4th consecutive loss after a 2 game winning streak after the installation of rookie Daniel Jones had given the team new life into their season. The Cowboys started the season with 3 straight wins that was followed by 3 straight losses up until last weeks' win. This game is critical for both teams. A loss puts the Cowboys at 4-4 on the season with some tough games remaining on the schedule. A loss for the Giants eliminates any realistic chance of making the playoffs.

Jones has looked shaky at times especially with ball security issues as he is prone to fumbles, getting stripped, and has thrown some bad interceptions. On the other hand he has made Giants GM David Gettleman look like a genius with his big arm, ability to extend plays with his legs as well as run for first downs. Last week was one of his best games going 28-41 for 322 yards and 4 passing touchdowns. 2nd year star running back had 19 carries for 64 yards as well as 8 catches for 85 yards. Free agent signing (who started the season slow after returning from a 4 game suspension) looks like he is finally starting to click with Jones as he has 8 catches for 85 yards. Wide receiver Darius Slayton had 2 grabs for 50 yards, both for touchdowns. Tight End Evan Engram had 4 catches for 40 yards and a touchdown.

The Cowboys made a statement with their emphatic win over the Eagles to establish first place in the division. Quarterback Dak Prescott went 21-27 for 239 yards and 1 touchdown. Running back Ezequiel Elliot had 22 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown. Star wide receiver Amare Cooper had 5 catches for 106 yards. While not the most dominant statistical day for the Cowboys the only stat that matters in the end is the scoreboard.

It's easy to assume games between Dallas and the Giants are going to be a running backs' showcase featuring Elliot of the Cowboys and Barkley of New York.

The two finished 1-2 in rushing last season with Elliott gaining 1,434 yards and Barkley 1,307. They also were 1-2 in yards from scrimmage with Barkley leading the way with 2,028 and Elliott getting 2,001. This will be the second matchup of the season as the Cowboys beat up on the Giants in week 1 35-17. That matchup had Eli Manning at quarterback for the Giants do this will be Jones's debut against a bitter division rival. The Giants got help earlier this week, acquiring defensive end Leonard Williams from the Jets for two draft picks. The sixth pick overall in 2015 has 17 sacks and 240 tackles in his four-plus years. New York uses a 3-4 defensive alignment. The Jets employ a 4-3 front that had Williams working mostly on the inside. He can play nose tackle, too. Watch to see what the Giants do.
