Chiefs vs. Patriots Week 6 Betting Odds

The 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs will travel to New England to take on the 3-2 Patriots in this week’s Sunday night matchup. Both teams have now won multiple games in a row as the Patriots are back on track and the Chiefs have been unstoppable all season. New England won its second game in a row last week after a 1-2 start with a 38-24 home victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Indianapolis was without 5 of their starters including star wide receiver T.Y. Hilton. Kansas City remained perfect on the year with an easy 30-14 home victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. They remain the only team in the league besides the Los Angeles Rams who have yet to lose this season.

Tom Brady had a mixed day against the Colts last week finishing with a quarterback rating of 79.4. He completed 34 of 44 passes for 341 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. His favorite target was James White who had 10 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. Sony Michel was the only Patriot who had positive rushing yards. He ran the ball 18 times for 98 yards and had a touchdown. For the season, the Patriots offense has averaged 26.6 points and 364.8 yards per game. Defensively they were able to force 3 turnovers with 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery. They sacked Andrew Luck once and the Colts had 7 different receivers catch passes that gained at least 12 yards. They did do a good job against the run as the Colts gained just 84 yards on 21 carries.

The Chiefs allowed the Jaguars to gain 531 yards of offense and 2nd year sensation Pat Mahomes had a bad game yet they still won easily. Mahomes completed just 22 of 38 passes for 313 yards, 0 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. His favorite target was Sammy Watkins who had 6 catches for 78 yards. Travis Kelce also had a nice game with 5 catches for 100 yards. Kareem Hunt led the running game with 87 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Defensively, they had 4 interceptions with 1 being returned for a touchdown while also recovering a fumble. They struggled somewhat against the run as the Jaguars gained 101 yards on just 17 carries which is an average of 5.9 yards per run. On the season, the Chiefs defense has allowed their opponents to average 25.8 points and 479 yards per game.

The Patriots will have home field advantage and are actually favored by 3.5 points even though the Chiefs are undefeated. The Patriots have gone 3-2 against the spread this season including 2-0 at home. The Chiefs covered the spread in all 5 of their victories. In the Super Bowl era, Mahomes currently ranks 3rd all-time with 1,797 yards and 14 touchdowns thrown in his first 6 starts. For the Patriots newly acquired receive Josh Gordon is questionable for this game with a hamstring injury which has been an issue since he was acquired last month.
