2009 St. Louis Rams Offensive Outlook

The St. Louis Rams should have a better offensive line than in 2008 that could not pass protect or open up holes for the running game. 1st round T Jason Smith and free agent C Jason Brown bring upside and talent to the OL. Stephen Jackson has looked great in the preseason and he has bought it Spags team philosophy of run first and pound the opposition. WR depth is thin and Donnie Avery the top receiver had a foot injury in the preseason. Bulger is recovering from a broken finger in preseason so expect plenty of running and more running from the Rams this year as they try to steal some games with dominate time of possession and strong run game.

2009 St. Louis Rams Defensive Outlook

The Rams can only look forward after their disastrous 2008 defense. Many media pundits are picking 2nd pick LB James Laurinaitis to be rookie of the year as he has had a strong preseason. The run defense looks just as bad this year and the defensive line is just trying to hold ground. DE Leonard Little is 35 and on his last legs. The secondary should be OK with S Oshiomogho Atogwe as the anchor with new CBs Bradley Fletcher, Ron Bartell and S James Butler. Overall, the Rams defense has a long way to go as they need to prove threat they can stop the run.
