Dolphins vs. Steelers Week 8 Betting Odds

The 2-4 Pittsburgh Steelers will host the 0-6 Miami Dolphins for this weeks Broadcast of Monday Night Football. In years past this would have been a matchup to look for. This year it is a matchup of two teams at the bottom of the NFL. One has to wonder how and/or why the NFL decided to put this matchup in Prime Time.

Miami has tried multiple starters at quarterback with current starter Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen going back and forth over the starting job. In last weeks 31-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills Fitzpatrick went 23-35 for 282 yards along with a touchdown and an interception. Running back Mark Walton had 15 carries for 66 yards while Kenyan Drake had 6 carries for 21 yards along with rumors that he may be on the trading block. Preston Williams led the Dolphins in receiving with 6 catches for 82 yards. Davante Parker also had 5 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.

The Steelers have been decimated by injuries this season and are currently starting unproven Devlin Hodges who wasn't impressive last week but also dint hurt the team in going 15-20 for 132 yards along with an interception and a touchdown. Benny Snell Jr led all ball carriers with 17 carries for 75 yards and a touchdown. James Conner had 16 carries for 41 yards. Cinner also contributed in the pass catching game leading all receivers with 7 catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. No other Steeler had more than 2 catches.

The Steelers have not had a losing season under head Coach Mike Tomlin. Last weeks win over the Los Angeles Chargers gave the team a chance to keep that streak in tact. A win this week will put them at one game below 500 for the season. The ground game will have to be highly effective in order for the team to put points on the board with such an unproven quarterback. Expect Conner and Snell Jr to get a lot of action this week as both ball carriers and pass catchers out of the backfield. The Dolphins have no identity whatsoever. The team is clearly tanking in an effort to get a high draft pick. This puts first year coach Brian Flores in a rough situation as he wants to win games yet the organizational philosophy may not match those goals. The organization may be tanking but the players are out there trying to perform for the team as well as their own individual contracts. Ryan Fitzpatrick has earned the nickname "Fitzmagic" at other stops along his career and is always capable of leading a team down the field if given all of the necessary components as well as some time to throw the football. The key to this game for both teams will be to win the turnover battle. Neither team is strong enough on either side of the ball to overcome turnovers. Sometimes when you have a matchup of two great teams you get a poorly played game. Perhaps the opposite can happen on Monday night and two struggling teams can put on a good show
