There has been a lot of turnover within the Southeast division this season and it is difficult to predict how the roster turnover that most teams within the division have gone through will affect the division overall. The clear favorite has to be the Washington Wizards who added veteran Paul Pierce in the offseason. He may be the type of proven veteran leader that the team needs to advance past the second round. The Wizards are one of 4 teams in the division that are options to place wagers on.

The Wizards are favorites thanks in large part to the improved play of point guard John Wall who showed an improved maturity as he stepped his game to the next level. Bradley Beal and Paul Pierce will help form a prolific wing group to combine with Nene and Matin Gortat in the frontcourt. They are +125 to win the division and 14/1 to win the conference.

The Miami Heat have lost Lebron James to free agency, however they replaced him with a fantastic player in Luol Deng. Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade will need to fill bigger roles as they try to get to the NBA finals for the 5th straight year. They are +200 to win the division.

The Hornets made a nice addition in the offseason by signing Lance Stephenson. He joins a team that made the playoffs last season and certainly appears to be on the upswing. Al Jefferson showed how dominant he can be last season. They are +400 to win the division.

This division is not loaded with superstars but it is very deep.
