The 0-2 New York Giants will travel to Philadelphia to take on the 1-1 Eagles in this week 3 Monday night contest with both teams coming off losses last week. Philadelphia was beaten 27-20 on the road to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles recovered an onside kick with 8 seconds remaining but their hail-mary attempt as time expired was incomplete. The Giants offense struggled for the second week in a row in their 24-10 loss at home to Detroit Lions. In 2 games this season they Giants have 13 points and Eli Manning has thrown more interceptions (2) than touchdowns (1). This is an important divisional game as both teams come from the NFC East.

Last week Philadelphia threw the ball 46 times and only ran the ball 17 times for a gain of 107 yards. Carson Wentz was actually the leader of the team with 55 yards on 4 carries which means running backs Darren Sproles and Wendall Smallwood combined for 52 yards on 13 carries. Wentz had a decent day throwing the ball as he completed 25 of his 46 pass attempts for 333 yards 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. The offensive line did a poor job of protecting him as he was sacked 6 times. His favorite target was Alshon Jeffrey who had 7 catches for 92 yards and a touchdown. Zack Ertz led the team with 97 yards on 5 catches. Defensively, they did not force a turnover but did sack Alex Smith 4 times and had 7 tackles for losses. They struggled against the run allowing the Chiefs to gain 112 yards on 19 carries which is an average of 6 yards per rush.

Eli Manning and the Giants offense couldn’t get it going again last week as Eli finished 22 of 32 for 239 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Evan Engram was his favorite target as he had 4 catches for 49 yards and the team’s only touchdown on the season. He suffered a concussion and is questionable for the game against Kansas City. Odell Beckham Jr. returned from an ankle injury to catch 4 passes for 36 yards and was a non-factor. They also struggled running the ball gaining just 62 yards on 18 carries. Defensively, they recovered a Matthew Stafford fumble and sacked him 3 times and had 8.5 tackles for losses.

The Giants and Eagles have both allowed their opponents to average 22 points per game this season but offensively it is a much different story. Philadelphia is averaging 25 points per game while New York is only averaging 6. Philadelphia will have home field advantage for the first time this season and is favored by two field goals. New York has gone 0-2 against the spread this season while the Eagles are 1-1. The Giants offensive needs to play better and it starts with the offensive line who allowed Manning to be sacked 8 times in the first 2 weeks.
