The 2-0 Oakland Raiders will travel to Washington to take on the 1-1 Redskins in this week 3 Sunday night contest with both teams coming off wins last week. The Raiders built on their season opening victory to route the New York Jets at home 45-20. Their offense is really rolling right now as they have put up 71 points in the first 2 games. The Redskins shook of a season opening loss and beat the Los Angeles Rams on the road 27-20. Tight End Jordan Reed and running back Rob Kelley suffered injuries and their status for this game is still up in the air.

Derrick Carr was brilliant again leading the Raiders offense last week finishing with a passer rating of 136.6. Over the first 2 games he is the third ranked quarterback in the leave with a passer rating of 126.5 He completed 23 of 28 passes for 230 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions last week. Michael Crabtree had a huge game catching 6 passes for 80 yards and all 3 of their touchdowns. They did a nice job running the ball as they gained 180 yards and 3 touchdowns on 27 carries. Jalen Richard led the team with 58 yards and a touchdown on 6 carries. Defensively, they recovered two Jets fumbles, sacked Josh MCcown 4 times and had 4 tackles for losses. They allowed New York to gain 126 yards on 25 carries, which is an average of 5 yards per rush.

The Washington running game propelled the team to its first win of the season. They gained 229 yards and scored 2 touchdowns on just 39 carries. Rob Kelley led the team with 78 yards on 12 carries. Chris Thompson had a nice day with 77 yards and both touchdowns on just 3 carries. Kirk Cousins played decently but has not yet played to the level he did last season. He completed 18 of his 27 passes for 179 yards, 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions. His favorite target was Jordan Reed who had 6 catches for 48 yards. Defensively, they forced 2 turnovers, sacked Jared Goff twice and had 3 tackles for losses. Washington has the 27th ranked defense in the league allowing their opponents to average 344 yards per game. Third down has been their Achilles heel as opponents have converted on 50 % of their third downs.

The Redskins will have home field advantage while Oakland is favored by a field goal. Oakland has gone 2-0 against the spread this season while Washington is 1-1. The Raiders offense is ranked 4th in league with 385 yards per game while Washington is 14th with 324 yards per game. The Redskins have several players with injuries whose status is questionable. For Oakland, Tight End Jared Cook left last weeks game early with a shoulder injury but has returned for practice this week. He would be a big loss as he has been the target in 11 of Derrick Carr’s 60 pass attempts this season.
