August 7, 2008 - The Brett Favre era is beginning in New York, New York as the Jets acquired QB Favre for a conditional draft pick. Favre a 3-time MVP led the packers to the NFC Championship game against the New York Giants who eventually went on to win the Super Bowl. Favre is expected to be starting QB on a NY Jet team that went 4-12 last season. Long time Jet QB, Chad Pennington has been released to make salary cap room for Favre.
The retooling Jets were big spenders in the off season committing to over $140M in free agent contracts. The Jets will have some big name offensive lineman to protect him in Calvin Pace, Alan Faneca, Damien Woody and his old TE from Green Bay Bubba Franks.
